CLACKAMAS REP CABARET SERIES: Sundays at Seven
An Evening with Douglas Webster
Sunday, September 28th, 2015  7pm
BROADWAY BARITONE, Douglas Webster returns singing the great and grand ballads of musical theater, classic opera and popular song followed by a second half of intimate cabaret songs and unpublished works by some of New York's bright and brilliant young composers.  Drawing from his club act on Restaurant Row in New York City, Douglas shares the stories behind the songs.

MASS: The BERNSTEIN CENTENARY PROJECT 2017-2019

First performing the role of The Celebrant in Leonard Bernstein's epic theater piece, MASS, for the composer's 70th Birthday Gala at The Tanglewood Festival in 1988, Douglas Webster has maintained his relationship with the work as performer, director and producer.  He is now preparing a multi-media, enhanced concert presentation of the work for the Bernstein centenary.  Teamed again with designer Matthew Antaky (Carnegie Hall, Dallas Symphony, Columbus Pro Musica) this newly envisioned presentation honors the intended scope of the work while reducing the resources required that have impeded the work from being produced by smaller organizations.

As 'Celebrant' he returned to the role in 2014 for a fully-staged production at the Birgitta Music Festival in Tallinn, Estonia [photo opposite].

LES MISÉRABLES: A quarter century relationship

Hired out of graduate school, Douglas joined the National Tour (Marius Company) of the epic mega-musical in 1989. Departing the tour to pursue his 'classical' career, he returned to the story in 1993 making his Broadway debut in the ensemble at the Imperial Theater in New York.  Twenty-five years later, reprised his performance as Valjean  for a co-production with The Arkansas Repertory Theater and Phoenix Theatre.  Just prior to this, he led the production as stage director of the Spokane Civic Theatre's extended run of Les Miserables.
